Rings with Expert Reports

Antique rings accompanied by professional expert reports — independent written assessments covering authentication, dating, materials analysis, and gemstone identification. Each report in this collection was prepared by an FGA-qualified gemmologist (Fellow of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain) using a combination of hallmark analysis, construction examination under magnification, and non-destructive testing including XRF (X-ray fluorescence) for metal composition.

An expert report documents a ring's age, origin, metal purity, gemstone species and any treatments, and construction method. It confirms whether hallmarks are consistent with the stated period, whether gemstone cuts match the era claimed, and whether construction techniques — hand-wrought collet settings, machine-stamped components, milgrain application — align with the identified date range. The report serves as an independent verification of the ring's description and provides a permanent record of its assessed characteristics at the time of examination.

Expert reports add a layer of assurance beyond the dealer's own assessment — particularly valuable for higher-value pieces, for insurance documentation, and for buyers who want third-party confirmation of age and authenticity. Trade bodies including the NAJ, BADA, and LAPADA require members to describe age and provenance accurately.
