The Antique Victorian 1867 Banded Agate Buckle Mourning Ring

This mid-Victorian mourning ring features a striking shield-shaped banded agate centrepiece, divided by a white stripe across its surface. The band is adorned with intricate black enamel detailing, including the solemn phrase “In Memory Of” written in an elegant script. On either side of the band, decorations are shaped like buckles, a symbol often associated with mourning jewellery to represent eternity and a lasting bond. To the back of the ring's head is a panel, likely containing a piece of hair.

Crafted from gold and hallmarked with clarity, the ring is an enduring piece of late Victorian sentimentality and fashion. Its elegant design makes it both a piece of historic mourning jewellery and a statement of timeless style.

This ring is fully hallmarked by the Assay Office of Birmingham for 18ct gold in 1867. It is in good condition, with light wear to the enamel commensurate with age.
