The Ancient Roman Carnelian Intaglio Olive Branch Ring

Regular price £3,399.00 GBP
Regular price Sale price £3,399.00 GBP

This stunning historic piece features a bright orange carnelian intaglio dating back to the 3rd century. This ancient Roman intaglio depicts a figure with an outstretched arm. In the hand of the figure is an olive branch. This delicate carving is in the typical Roman style and remains in fantastic condition, dating back over 2000 years.

The intaglio is held in a yellow gold rub-over setting. The stone is thought to have been set in the 19th century, likely late Georgian to early Victorian. The wide shoulders framing the head slim into a plain yellow gold band.

Provenance: Acquired at public auction from a reputable fine-art and antiques auction house (London, UK). Previously in a private collection.

Please note that this ring is currently on display at Hemswell Antique Centres and will have a delivery delay of 3–4 working days.
