Sold for £7,750.00

An incredible piece of ancient jewellery in full wearable condition.

The Ring

From 700 to 1100 AD, this Viking Age ring is composed of a twisted band with wrapped terminals, as if two hands holding one another. It is in impeccable condition and could easily be worn.

History

In Norse mythology Jormungand or Jörmungandr (Great Beast), also known as the Midgard Serpent, was a dragon or snake like beast that lived in the oceans surrounding Midgard. Midgard was said to be our whole visible world and Jormungand was so enormous its body formed a circle around all Midgard. He is one of the three children of Loki and the giantess Angrboda, along with Hel and Fenrir.
