The Vintage 1960 9ct Gold Capricornus Signet Ring
Sold January 2026
This fantastic signet ring is a beautiful piece with a detailed engraving of a Capricornus on its head. The symbol of Capricornus, often shortened to Capricorn, represents the Sea-Goat, a mythological creature with a goat's head and a fish's tail. In Babylonian and later Greek tradition, Capricornus is associated with stories of gods enduring hardship. The goat imagery reflects perseverance despite obstacles, self-discipline and focus. The head of the ring is oval shaped with broad shoulders, leading to a plain yellow gold band.
This ring is fully hallmarked by The Assay Office of Birmingham for 9ct gold in 1960.
