The Vintage 1972 Bloodstone Signet Ring
Sold April 2023
This signet ring features a deep green bloodstone with small flecks of red throughout, giving it the appearance of blood droplets. The shoulders are broad and slim down towards the back of the band.
Bloodstone is a dark green to a dark bluish-green variety of chalcedony that is typically speckled with small, red or brown spots or flecks. In ancient times, bloodstone was thought to have healing properties and the power to stop bleeding. It was worn as an amulet by soldiers in battle and used in jewellery for centuries.
This ring is fully hallmarked by the Assay Office of Birmingham for 9ct gold in 1972. There are slight scratches to the face of the bloodstone but the ring remains in fully wearable condition with light marks commensurate with age.
