The Vintage 1934 Bloodstone Signet Ring
Sold July 2024
This stylish signet ring features a beautiful bloodstone set in between two bold shoulders, which slope into a slimmer band towards the back of the ring. The gold band has a slight rosy tone.
Bloodstone is a dark green to a dark bluish-green variety of chalcedony that is typically speckled with small, red or brown spots or flecks. In ancient times, bloodstone was thought to have healing properties and the power to stop bleeding. It was worn as an amulet by soldiers in battle and used in jewellery for centuries.
There is an inscription inside the band which reads '4:1035, D.M - J.S'.
This ring is fully hallmarked by the Assay Office of Birmingham for 9ct gold in 1934. It is in good condition with light marks commensurate with age.
