The Antique Early Victorian Heads & Hearts Thirty One Old Cut Diamonds Ring

The detailed and handmade band of this ring depicts two faces, with bodies below and arms above, supporting the lattice mounted 23 diamond heart in the ring gallery. The heart of diamonds is encircling seven diamond petals, with two yet to unfold, and a bright central principal diamond as the flower's pistil.
This stunning Early Victorian ring head dates from around the 1850s, and is in good condition for its age. The diamonds total 1.08 carat and are bright and lively. The principal diamond is a cushion shaped old European cut diamond, flanked to either side by a cushion shaped old French cut diamond. The foliate motif is additionally grain set with five cushion shaped old 8 cut diamonds. The cluster is bordered by twenty-three old rose cut diamonds. The diamonds' gallery is made of intricate lattice work which has 3 absent pieces. The gallery does not show any resulting movement and all diamonds are well held. The metal on the band tests as approx. 14ct and the area around the diamonds appears to be silver. The head measures 18mm high and 19mm wide.
