The Antique Victorian Turquoise Forget-Me-Not Mourning Ring

Sold for £1,325.00

This outstanding mourning piece, circa 1880, features 11 turquoise cabochons, in the formation of a forget-me-not. A central diamond crystal is surrounded by turquoise petals and ornately decorated shoulders.

There is a sealed locket compartment to the reverse, in which lies a piece of braided hair, a memento to remember a loved one.

This ring has provenance, having come from the estate of the late Jane Sumner, a well respected antiques dealer with a career which spanned five decades. Over her years of trading, she operated shops in Saffron Walden and Thaxted, Essex, London (Fulham Road) and Hungerford, Berkshire as well as having run the prestigious events The Kenilworth Antiques Fair and London Antiques Dealers Fair (Café Royal, Piccadilly, London) for many years.

This ring, circa 1880, tests as 15ct. There is a sign of previous resize solder to the base of the band, a common sight on much older antiques. However, the stones are well held and is is in very good wearable condition, commensurate with age.
