The Antique Victorian Ruby and Ten Diamond Ring

A medium red well-saturated ruby with good clarity sits at the centre of this ring's gallery, surrounded by eight diamonds and a further 2 to each shoulder.

The ring's shoulders are trifurcated with the central beam for each holding a diamond. At the join of the three shoulder pieces there is ornate metalwork in the style of a band.

The ring's metal, testing via XRF as 12ct, was a common fineness for Victorian jewellery, eventually being replaced by 9 and 15ct as industry standards in the 20th Century.

Inside the band is an inscription, sadly lost by time. In good overall condition with just light marks commensurate with age. The ruby and diamonds are all well held. Circa 1890.
