The Antique Victorian 1884 Old Cut Ring
Sold April 2023
This ring features a central oval panel with a dazzling old-cut diamond in a deep star setting, for an approximate total of 0.06ct. The shoulders are bifurcated with an openwork design and contain two red pastes in deep settings.
This ring is fully hallmarked by the Assay Office of London for 18ct gold in 1884. The pastes have some wear; however, all stones remain well-held. There is also evidence of a previous resizing to the base of the band, most visible with our high-contrast photography and less noticeable in natural light. This ring is in good condition with light marks commensurate with age.
