The Antique Victorian Garnet Engraved Ring

Sold for £409.00

This stunning antique ring, circa 1870-1901, features a beautiful deep purplish red garnet at its centre, which captures the light wonderfully. The garnet is in a fully closed and backed setting, held by dainty claws and surrounded by rings of intricately engraved yellow metal. The head of the ring is framed by foliate engraved split shoulders, leading to a band complete with lined detail.

This ring is circa the late Victorian era, and has been electronically assessed and tests as 15ct gold. It is in fair condition with light marks commensurate with age. The garnet in this ring shows wear to the crown facets, which is more noticeable under magnification. There is lead soldering present where the shoulders join the head.
