The Antique Victorian 1887 Swiss Cut Diamond and Synthetic Ruby Celestial Ring
Sold August 2023
This ring features a wide band holding two synthetic rubies on either side of a stunning Swiss-cut diamond in deep, celestial star-shaped settings. The diamond is approximately 0.04ct in total.
The two synthetic rubies are likely replacements. It was common in the late Victorian era and early 20th century to sell stones from a ring when times were hard but still want to keep the ring for its sentimental reason.
Intricate engravings on the ring head make the gemstones pop, giving the ring a unique feel. The ring is in good overall condition, with just general light marks commensurate with its age.
This ring is fully hallmarked by the Assay Office of London in 1887 for 22ct gold.
