The Antique Victorian 1866 Ornate Moonstone Ring
Sold June 2021
This outstanding ring in excellent condition is immediately eye-catching. With a peach coloured moonstone held in four triple-claw settings with their pattern continuing underneath, this is a ring not just for others to admire but made with love and care to details that can't even be seen when worn.
The ring's band is ornately patterned all around, and even has small dot imprints to the side of the band. There are no signs of any resize and hardly any wear to the pattern work. This ring may only have been worn for special occasions, allowing it to stay in such wonderful condition. When viewed from the side the band is an imperfect circle, perhaps the result of wear, but we believe based on the condition of the ring it is more likely a result of the manual process of its making.
The band's inside is fully hallmarked for 15ct gold by the Assay Office of Birmingham in 1866. At over a century and a half old this ring is extremely well presented.
Please be aware that due to the ornate band of this ring it is not able to be resized and is excluded from our Free Resize service.
