The Antique Edwardian 1905 Sapphire and Old Cut Diamond Ring
Sold May 2023
This exquisite ring features two stunning light blue sapphires framed by three dazzling old-cut diamonds in a boat-shaped openwork head. Lined detailing occupies both shoulders, emphasising the ring's head. There is an approximate total of 0.085ct of diamonds.
Sapphires were highly prized gemstones during the Edwardian era, which spanned from 1901 to 1910. The Edwardian era was known for its elegance, luxury, and sophistication, and sapphires were the perfect gemstone to embody these qualities.
This ring is fully hallmarked by the Assay Office of Chester for 18ct gold in 1905. There is a mild inclusion in one of the sapphires, made more noticeable by our high-contrast photography, but it is far less visible to the human eye. All gemstones are well held, and the ring is in good wearable condition.
