The Antique Old Brilliant Cut Diamond Solitaire Ring

This ring's solitaire diamond is a wonderfully presented old brilliant cut stone. You can see all the core components of a brilliant cut, but under magnification the final shape and facets reveal this stone's old cut. The circular cuts of modern brilliant cuts are near perfect when viewed from the crown, but this antique diamond has a very slight oval cushion cut shaping to it. The bezel, star and upper girdle facets are all slightly different in size and shape, and the table of the diamond also shows signs of the more manual methods used in the past.

This striking diamond of approximately 0.6ct with excellent clarity, held aloft in a claw setting, is a nice piece history that remains in style to this day. The ring, at around 100 years old is in good overall condition. There is a small nibble to the girdle visible under magnification, and the band has usual wear commensurate with age.
