The Antique Georgian Urn and Willow Mourning Ring
Sold May 2026
This exquisite ring features a mourning scene depicting a lady in a long flowing dress wrapping a garland around an urn on a plinth, standing underneath a willow tree's hanging branches. The scene is painted onto a white plaque, most likely ivory, which is set under a colourless crystal panel within a rectangular-shaped head. The highly detailed head joins to broad shoulders, which leads to a slim, rosy band.
The back of the head reads Eliza Meadows ob: 21. Aug 1789 Age: 67.
This ring, circa 1780's, has a small chip to one of the corners of the crystal panel and signs of wear. However, the ring is still in good condition with usual marks commensurate with age.
