The Antique Georgian Emerald, Ruby & Pearl Ring
Sold March 2021
A breath-taking emerald, ruby and pearl ring from the Georgian Era. Featuring a central step cut emerald, flanked by two half pearls and two oval mixed cut rubies in a gold closed back setting with beaded borders and openwork scroll shoulders joining to a tapered band.
The Georgian Era was the time that spanned from the early 1700s up until the reign of Queen Victoria. This piece is most likely from the Regency period of that era, circa 1820.
This ring has provenance, having come from the estate of the late Jane Sumner, a well respected antiques dealer with a career which spanned five decades. Over her years of trading, she operated shops in Saffron Walden and Thaxted, Essex, London (Fulham Road) and Hungerford, Berkshire as well as having run the prestigious events The Kenilworth Antiques Fair and London Antiques Dealers Fair (Café Royal, Piccadilly, London) for many years.
This ring is in very good wearable condition. One ruby shows a very small chip, which does not appear to have affected the stone or its setting. There is a sign of previous resize solder to the base of the band, a common sight on much older antiques. We would happily correct this solder mark free of charge should that be desired. Please contact us for details.
