The Antique Victorian ‘Dearest’ Acrostic Ring

An acrostic ring is a romantic style of ring in which the first letters of the gemstones spell out a word, in this case ‘dearest’. They were traditionally were given as tokens of love to let someone know you how fondly you regard them, and to allow them to let everyone know they held a special place in someone's heart.
This remarkable ring features a daisy design of a variety of gemstones including a rose cut diamond, two emeralds, an amethyst, a ruby, a sapphire, and a topaz. The stones capture the light superbly and this ring makes for a brilliant statement piece and show of affection.
Circa mid to late Victorian, this ring tests as 9ct with a silver setting and with an approximate diamond weight of 0.1ct. The ring is in good overall condition with usual wear commensurate with age.
