The Ancient Sun Symbol Bronze Ring

The Vikings believed in a sun goddess named Sol, who’s worship has ancient roots, and extends far back into the bronze age.
This bronze ring, circa 100-1400 AD, features a large head with a sun design and swirls.
The band has textured grooves and a knop to the base. There are some worn edges, but the ring is in fully wearable condition.
The size of the head is approximately 26mm.

Provenance: Acquired as part of a group lot from an established ancient antiques gallery in north London. A photocopy of the certificate from the gallery will be included with your purchase. Formerly, in a private UK collection; From an old Oxford collection formed in the 1980s.
