The Ancient Roman Gold Ring with Two Birds at an Altar

A stunning Roman piece, circa 100-300AD. This gold ring features a Nicolo Stone Intaglio of two birds standing together at an altar. The stone is held in a ropework setting which joins to a gold band.

In very good condition, with light marks commensurate with age and the stone well held. This ring at nearly two thousand years old is still fully wearable.

Size P UK/AU, 7½ US/CA, 56½ FR/RU, 17¾ DE

Authenticity: This ring is accompanied by a signed certificate of authenticity from an established ancient artefact gallery in central London. The gallery is the official partner and representative of Ralf Kotalla German authenticity Laboratory in the UK and the document is signed by their lead expert with a PhD in Archaeology.

Provenance: Formerly in a north London gallery, before that acquired in the UK/EU Art market in the 1980s.
