The 17th Century Romanesque Betrothal Ring

Sold for £3,299.00

This absolutely breathtaking piece of history, with the bezel in the style of a Romanesque synagogue, comes from 17th-century Germany and has Jewish origins. This silver gilt ring stands at an impressive height, and weighs over 25 grams.

The band's considerable thickness and heavy flat top means its size cannot be measured in the usual way. It measures M in height and P in width. It fits like a N/O but may fit differently for different shapes of fingers.

This ring was formerly in the collection of Dame Joan Evans, between 1930-1976, then in a private collection in Sussex until now.

Centuries-old, this ring is in excellent condition for its age. There is some loss to the gilding in places and some light wear to the decoration of the shoulders commensurate with age and some use.

Ring weight: 25.22g
