The Antique Victorian 1899 Five Diamond Ring
Sold April 2021
This 18 carat gold ring, fully hallmarked by the Assay Office of Birmingham in 1899, holds approximately 0.72 carat of very clear and bright Old Mine Cut diamonds. One diamond appears to be a modern cut replacement, most likely to replace a lost or chipped stone.
This Victorian ring would likely have been made by hand, under magnification you can see the porosity marks (bubbles from the casting process) in the underside of the shank.
A ring with an impressive quality of stones, at over 120 years old it is in good wearable condition, with usual wear to the band, and all diamonds are well held.
